# Artificial selection
I hardly understand the point of this idea existing, to my understanding it means **selection** instrumented by man, but man is a [[Physic/System/System]] in the [[Eco-system]] anyway, couldn’t we just call it [[Natural selection]]?
Or it means more like the [[Physic/System/System]] of man had more impact in this **selection** outcome. I.e. **artificial selection** is [[Natural selection]] skewed toward man.
# Examples
- animal domestication -> animal optimised to fill man stomach and emotional needs (dogs)
- plants -> plants optimised to fill man stomach
But **artificial selection** does not necessarily bring positive outcomes:
- we turned fruits into candies (the nutrient composition is harmful now that we tried to maximise sugar for business purposes of course) to maximize emotions
- domesticated animals are like brainless machines producing food, their brain size reduced to the benefit of man stomach, should we care about that?
- we turned cereals and grain into empty calorie to maximize emotions (mono crop culture, white rice…)
