# Building cofounder relationship
1. Build trust
- Share your life stories and get to know each other on a personal level
- Admit your weaknesses and be vulnerable with each other
- Don't break confidences or talk behind each other's backs
2. Encourage healthy conflict
- Have weekly 1-on-1s to thoroughly debate key decisions
- Take turns playing "devil's advocate" to surface different perspectives
- Never make comments that feel like personal attacks
3. Commit to decisions
- Use "disagree but commit" after decisions - don't undermine them
- Document key decisions and have both of you sign off
- Schedule sync-ups to check on decision implementation
4. Hold each other accountable
- Establish KPIs and metrics for key responsibilities
- Do quarterly mini-reviews to give each other feedback
- Immediately address issues, don't let them fester
5. Focus on collective results
- Define and track clear company-level goals
- Celebrate company wins together, not individual ones
- Split company incentive bonuses based on company performance
