With the recent hype about machine learning, tons of people are entering the academy and it seems that most of the papers are just "we present sUpErXGrAdIeNts that improve SOTA by 2% performance" (and add tons of layers of complexity).
This [[Biology/Evolution/Red Queen]] effect of academic competition seems to push research into niche areas with a narrow vision on very technical problems and far from the goal of finding a way towards universal artificial intelligence, towards a theory of general intelligence?
