Imagine that the ink drop is so stupid that it decides not to tell these bipedal carbon-based life forms that it is falling (by some dark magic they can't see/know by any mean the ink drop is falling), and only releases the [[Information|information]] when it hits the ground If suddenly a black hole pops next to them, before the drop hit the ground, but Alice teleport at the other side of the universe, she won't know the drop fell towards the ground, the information is lost. I'm amazed that this happens in software these days, in fact, in nature I can't think of any instances where the state is only conserved in a [[Closed system|closed system]] like this, so why would we go against what it took [[Evolution|evolution]] millions of years to learn? ## [[Turing machine]] Why, in the first place, do Turing machines only have a local state? I suppose it's easier for humans to do this mechanically than to build [[The Internet]] and then Turing machines. But now, couldn't we have computers that, by default, share a distributed state, just as a plant shares its state with all nearby objects in [[Space-time|space-time]]? Isn't it what we are starting to see to emerge with [[Blockchain]]s? # External links Similar topic links: [[Machine Learning Street Talk (MLST) - 82 - Dr. JOSCHA BACH - Digital Physics - DL and Consciousness UNPLUGGED]] [[The Map is not the Territory]] [[Turing machine]] [[a16z Podcast - Neal Stephenson on the Future of the Metaverse]]
