Alan Turing was a British mathematician, computer scientist, and cryptanalyst who is widely regarded as one of the most influential scientists of the 20th century. He is known for his pioneering work on the development of the first programmable computer, which was used to decipher Nazi Germany's secret codes during WWII and was credited with turning the tide of the war, as well as his seminal work on artificial intelligence. Turing's work also laid the foundations for modern computer programming and computer science, influencing generations of future computer scientists. He is often referred to as the father of modern computing.
