I agree, less is more, kind of in the same vein as [Warren Buffett's "2 List" Strategy: How to Maximize Your Focus and Master Your Priorities](https://jamesclear.com/buffett-focus).
Thanks for sharing, I’ll try for friendship in general. **"What did I do today to make X happy in an unexpected way? "**.
In a more social (rather than self-centered) vein, I’ve gotten into the habit of scheduling activities with more and more friends/relatives:
- **Give me four praises and one critique**
This varies depending on the person, some friends have a very antifragile mindset so they are skeptical of praise (we had a long discussion about the value of praise and couldn’t come up with a solution), so we just give each other criticism and take notes on solutions (if we consider that they should be improved).
Regarding Maslow’s pyramid, thanks for bringing it up, I don’t know much about him, but I find the pyramid to be an interesting framework to explore to measure the evolution of a life at different levels. I think it’s more about pillars than a pyramid (i.e. you don’t need to complete “esteem” to work on “self-actualization”).

Again, I’m not claiming it’s optimal, I just find it interesting to try to see how it helps measure a person’s progress in life.
