Instinctively we see risk as something to avoid, something highly undesirable with rarely any upsides. Like exposing yourself to a lion usually meant you can die.
Losses are not necessarily bad. Losses give you learning opportunities that you might not be able to access through winning only.
The truth is that we live in a different world where risk allows you to fail and grow (nonlinearly) while living a comfortable life involves a linear growth or even sometimes linear downfall.
Obviously risk is not something you want to chase blindfolded, you should try to learn from others first, [[Vicarious learning]], then take the risk if this is not enough
