# Perception Beyond Sight
>If indeed adaptive behaviors observed in the blind are intimately related to changes in the overall structural and functional organization of the brain, evidence of increased morphological changes (e.g. gray matter volume or structural hypertrophy) and connectivity (white matter projections and functional connectivity) may be indicative of enhanced organization and facilitation of information processing occurring locally and/or between remote brain regions[^1]
Daredevil, aka Matt Murdock, is a Marvel superhero who gained heightened senses after a childhood chemical accident caused him to lose his sight. Despite his blindness, Daredevil's other senses allow him to mentally "see" his surroundings and perceive subtle details like temperature and air pressure. He has trained extensively to use these skills to perform impressive athletic and combat feats.

[[Viktor Frankl]] says in earnest that
>in man’s struggle with suffering he may add a deeper meaning to his life. It may remain brave, dignified and unselfish. Or in the bitter fight for self-preservation he may forget his human dignity and become no more than an animal. Here lies the chance for a man either to make use of or to forgo the opportunities of attaining the moral values that a difficult situation may afford him. And this decides whether he is worthy of his sufferings or not.
Viktor Frankl became stronger after surviving the concentration camp by realizing that he had an important task to complete. He exercised his freedom to determine his own attitude and found meaning in his suffering. His experiences in the concentration camps confirmed his view that it is through a search for meaning and purpose in life that one can endure even the most difficult circumstances. Frankl's theory and therapy grew out of his experiences in Nazi death camps, where he observed who did and did not survive given an opportunity to survive.
>there is also purpose in that life which is almost barren of both creation and enjoyment and which admits of but one possibility of high moral behavior; namely, in man’s attitude to his existence … If there is meaning in life at all, then there must be a meaning in suffering. Suffering is an ineradicable part of life, even as fate and death. Without suffering and death human life cannot be complete
