# Funnel

A funnel is a cone-shaped object with a narrow opening at the top and a wider opening at the bottom. It is commonly used for transferring liquids or other materials from one container to another without spillage or waste. Funnel can also be used for filtering, separating, or directing substances into a specific area or item. They are commonly made of materials such as plastic, metal, or glass and can be found in a variety of sizes and shapes depending on their intended use.
The funnel can be used as a mental model to represent the process of filtering information, ideas, or actions. In this model, the top of the funnel represents a wide range of inputs, such as incoming data, opinions, or options. The middle of the funnel represents the filtering process where the input is sifted or assessed for relevancy or value. Finally, the bottom of the funnel represents the output, the selected or approved input that will be acted upon or used for decision making.
The funnel model can be applied to various scenarios, such as selecting candidates for a job position, evaluating business opportunities, or assessing projects. By using the funnel mental model, individuals or organizations can streamline the decision-making process, prevent decision paralysis, and reduce errors or biases in the evaluation process.

The shape of a river can also be seen as a funnel, with a wide beginning and a narrow end. Water flows from various sources and is channeled into a single, concentrated flow that becomes more powerful and forceful as it travels downstream. The river funnel can represent the process of gathering and combining multiple inputs or influences to create a single, unified outcome or result.
