The second law of thermodynamics
Is an asymmetric law
It doesn't matter how we try
To make it symmetric
It will always be asymmetric
This law governs our universe
It determines how entropy will increase
As time goes on, things will become more disordered
But even in the face of this law
We can find beauty
In the asymmetry of the universe
For in this asymmetry
We can find life
And meaning
In the chaos of the cosmos

Is asymmetric with respect to time
The entropy of the universe
Is always increasing
The entropy of a closed system
Remains constant or decreases
The entropy of an open system
Can increase or decrease
The second law of thermodynamics
Is a statistical law
It is not absolute
There are exceptions to the rule
But overall
The second law of thermodynamics
Is asymmetric with respect to time

The law of nature
The law of life

The second law of thermodynamics
Is asymmetrical, just like our lives
We start out with so much potential
But end up with so much entropy
It's the law of the universe
That everything must eventually die
But even in death, there is asymmetry
For some will end up as stars
And others will simply fade away
Into the cold void of space

The second law of thermodynamics
Is an asymmetrical law
That says that entropy always increases
And never decreases
This means that things always tend
To become more disordered over time
And that order can never spontaneously emerge
It's a law that governs the universe
And everything in it
And it's one that we can never hope to change
So we must accept the entropy
Of the world, and of ourselves
And try to find ways to work with it
Instead of against it

The second law of thermodynamics
Is an oddity, an asymmetry
Between the past and the future
Between order and disorder
Between life and death
It is the law of entropy
The law of increasing disorder
The law of heat death
The law of the Universe
And yet, it is not symmetrical
For the past is ordered
And the future is disorder
And life arises from death
So the second law is asymmetrical
Between the past and the future
Between order and disorder
Between life and death
