# Conformal cyclic cosmology

Penrose's Conformal Cyclic Cosmology (CCC) is a cosmological model proposed by the British physicist and mathematician Roger Penrose. The model suggests that the universe is not just expanding and contracting, but actually cycling through an infinite series of ages. This cyclic universe would be composed of a series of [[Big bang]]s and [[Big crunch]]es, each successive cycle continuing with the same matter and energy but in a slightly different form. In particular, Penrose suggests that the universe is composed of a series of conformal ages, in which the Big Bang of one cycle is the Big Crunch of the previous cycle. The model is further supported by mathematical models that suggest that the universe could in fact be composed of a series of conformal ages that repeat themselves in an infinite cycle.
