Give the receiver a little heads-up of what’s coming. It can be enough to say “I have something to communicate to you, is now a good time?” • State the trigger behavior or event. Try to be factual (“When you are late to meetings…”) as opposed to interpretative (“When you disrespect me...”). • State how that trigger behavior makes you feel. This is perhaps the hardest part for many founders to do. Talking about your feelings might not be something you are used to, so it might be challenging at first. However, doing so is crucial for the other person to truly understand where you are coming from and to take your feedback to heart.
