Herd thinking is cheap; leaps require leaving the collective
It’s easier to derive thoughts from existing one, or copy. It requires less energy than creating something anew.
Why would you try to invent an airplane when you ride a horse? Just iterate on the horse right? Plug the horse to wheel and it can carry more humans, right?
Even in San Francisco, which is supposed to gather the “best” brains of the world, everyone think about the same thing. Nowadays it’s all about customer chatbots or such
When you’re tackling something hard, ambitious, people will either look impressed or think you’re high. You might be high but without drugs, but being high is not a bad thing. It can help you reach new dimensions that herd mentality cannot reach
