Timeline learning roadmap; explore vs exploit

The exercise is to draw a timeline of your life where you write down what you need to learn on the way to reach your goals.

Someone critized this approach on the fact that you don’t know what you don’t know, i.e. you need some exploration in order to know what you need to learn.

Example

Childhood (0-18):

  • Learn basic life skills such as reading, writing, math, and communication
  • Develop a sense of self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Develop a sense of identity and purpose
  • Learn how to set goals and achieve them
  • Develop an understanding of the world around you
  • Develop an understanding of different cultures and beliefs

Young Adulthood (18-25):

  • Develop an understanding of the principles of personal growth and goal setting
  • Develop an understanding of the importance of taking risks and learning from mistakes
  • Learn how to manage stress and maintain a healthy lifestyle
  • Develop financial literacy and learn how to budget and save money
  • Develop an understanding of the principles of networking and building relationships
  • Develop an understanding of the importance of self-care and mental health

Adult (25+):

  • Learn how to build a successful career and business
  • Develop an understanding of the principles of leadership and management
  • Develop an understanding of the importance of lifelong learning and personal growth
  • Learn how to create meaningful relationships with others
  • Develop an understanding of the principles of investing and financial planning
  • Develop an understanding of the importance of physical health and nutrition
